4 steps to turn off microsoft automatic updates (below)

Open the Windows 10 Home settings app and select Network & Internet.

​In the list of Wi-Fi networks, scroll down to the end of the window.(Above)
Then
​Select Advanced options (Below)

Enable Set as metered connection option and you are done. (Below)

If you do that for one WIFI network you’re currently connected to, Windows will remember this setting also for other Wi-Fi networks too.
Once you have done this, automatic updates are switched off completely. To get them manually you have to click a Download button. Like that you can install only those updates you want and when you want them.
What is a metered connection?A metered connection is basically an internet connection where you get billed for the amount of data you download. Windows 10 automatically defines certain types of connections like cellular data connections as metered.

So you've made the leap and gotten "up to date" by using Windows 8 or 10! Good for you! But wait, your older HP Designjet wide format printer plotter no longer prints. How will you use your older plotter with this new system? What driver should you use? Your Designjet model is not even listed on the ADD PRINTER WIZARD.  

WHAT'S THE DEAL HERE?
Windows 8 and 10  have a built-in requirement that any drivers must be "signed" drivers. That's a newer technology that keeps some viruses from getting into your computer. It is a good technology. When you download old HP drivers into Win 8 or 10 it looks like the driver has loaded, but it doesn't work. You may even think your older plotter has stopped working! It hasn't. I've helped people throughout the nation with this problem!
